There are only 3 walls which are famous, Berlin wall, Wall of China and The Wall by Pink Floyd.

PAnother Brick in the Wall was the song which hit number 1 instantly. It still continues to reign it’s position and I can listen to it any time, any place and any duration, love it at times when I am driving, it arouses something within.

Another Brick in the Wall all versions (Reminiscing, Education & Drugs) were written by Roger Waters

The wall was an imagination of the wall which was created in the singer’s mind and another brik in the wall would mean that the cause, effect, situation or person just added to the wall and thereby increasing the isolation of the person from society, or relationship etc.

David Gilmour and Roger Waters love you and respect for your music.

My Connect

I still remember when I bought the album The Wall in a fluke, was so impressed with the cover, title and the band’s name. I was at high school during that time probably.

My Pick

Listen to any wall version:

om mani padme hum,om mani padme hum,

om mani padme hum,om mani padme hum.

There is a reason behind the repetitions, if you have heard this song you can relate to it. The chant goes in my head as I am typing or even thinking about this song.

This is a very powerful and peaceful Buddhist song, if you ever had the chance of visiting any monastery you will find it written there. It is related to Buddhism and is a very calming mantra for meditation and when you are alone and need some tranquility and peace just play this song in low volume and you will experience magic.

My Pick

There are various versions of the mantra, however sharing the one which I find the best and soothing:

NIRVANA means to rise above and attain the moksha (release, freedom from cycle of birth and death and attain a state of egolessness) It is a state very hard to attain and is difficult to preach or practice.

The Nirvana band however does very well and helps you to attain Nirvana through their music. The songs in their list includes, Smells like teen spirit, About a girl, Sliver, Stay Away to name a few. The band’s lifeline was cut short following the death of Kurt Cobian which was very unfortunate for them.

Sliver is one of the songs which my small one uses and says to me in a pun Grandma take me home, wanna be alone.

Love you Kurt Cobian for giving us the best grunge,is  there some reason behind so many good musicians dying young, makes me feel sad and bad about it. Anyway the music will always make him live forever. May God give him peace wherever he is.

I heard Come as you are in one of a CD compilation and thereafter I went on to chase the other songs:

My Pick

Come as you are is one of my favourite, unparalled opening guitar:

Request you to listen the song and read the first comment, I couldn’t resist laughing, very witty people out there with great pun indeed, must check

K is for Kindnesses #AtoZChallenge Historical Treasure @AprilA2Z

So impressed with the concept of sharing and spreading kindness, need of the hour. Random Acts of Kindness. Thanks for writing this wonderful article Kristin

Kindness can be radical.

Kindness can be powerful.

Kindnesses can change the world.

There was a movement several years ago called Random Acts of Kindness (RAK). People were talking about how to take action, how to go through the day looking to seize moments to be kind. Perhaps it was the movie/book Pay It Forward that kicked things off. I really don’t know.

One easy kindness many tried was to pay for the next person in line. On the morning commute when there was a toll booth, they paid for themselves and the car behind them. At a drive-through window, some Kindness perpetrators paid for the meal for the vehicle behind them.

The Christian radio station I listened to in Maryland encouraged listeners to engage the world this way and tell what happened. They also asked if someone benefited from an RAK to call in to testify about how that…

When it comes to music how we can forget Michael Jackson. He is the man who gave you the moon walk and still it is one of the best dance steps in the world. He is after all the KING of POP without any doubts.

I have always felt sad about his demise and just imagine what it would have been if he was still between us. Some of his best songs include Beat it, Thriller, black or white, Remember the time. One of his last track which I like very much is They don’t care about it, it was ecstatic

Salute and respect for the king of pop and May he gets peace wherever he is.

My Connect

Michael is to Music what water is to life so it is not possible that someone is not exposed to MJ. It is so inherent and prevalent that you don’t remember when was your first time.

My Pick

Just beat it, one of my favorites

Also I like the thriller version played in 13 going on 30, you can find Hulk shaking some legs here, do check it out

Hello, I’m Johnny Cash – A TO Z CHALLENGE

 “Hello, I’m Johnny Cash”

This had been the first line Johnny Cash would say to start all his concerts despite all the name and fame. Johnny Cash needs no introduction and was best known for his country side and gospel songs besides rock n roll. He is one of the most successful and admired music artists of his era and still he continues to be. Johnny Cash had his own style of singing and had a very different voice. I personally admire him a lot as his life was full of ups and downs.

His pairing with June Carter, his wife saw some of the best songs to be produced in history, like Ring of Fire. They had a great chemistry on and off the stage.

Walk the line is probably one of the finest songs of Johnny Cash.

My Connect

I never had heard about Johnny Cash until I was in England. When I was back in my home, I used to watch the free to air channels, probably Channel4 and one fine day it was airing Walk the Line, a movie which was a namesake for one of his songs. I was fortunate to watch the lengthy movie from start to end. It was a biopic on the life of Johnny Cash.

The movie though a little long was very well directed as it unfolds Johnny Cash’s story from his younger days till the end, covering the minutest events of his life. It also had included many songs from Johnny Cash, so if you want to witness history of this legend then it is a must watch. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon have portrayed the roles of Johnny Cash and June Carter and they have done justice to it.

My Pick

It is difficult to choose the songs from country music, my pick would be Walk the Line – When you are mine I walk the Line:

This a bonus one- FOR J

J FOR  Janie , Don’t You Take Your Love To Town.

Yes it’s for Jon Bon Jovi, JBJ is one my favourite rock bands which I started to follow early in the list, in the 90’s loved to listen their songs.

I particularly play this song for my wife as she is also named Julian, Janie, so whenever she is off to her Mommas I play it loud (though sometimes I am happy inside 🙂 freedom you see).

Then there is In these arms, Someday I will be Saturday night,

My Connect

Cross Roads was the album, the best of JBJ, this was had been my starting point, the last one I knew was Destination Anywhere album. It had a great track, Tell Me It Was Just a Dream, August 7, 4:15 dedicated to the mysterious disappearance of Katherine Korzilius, daughter of JBJ tour manager.

My Pick

The pick of the band from my side is, Runaway, it is said that daughters grow faster, and as I see my daughter growing up at great pace and acquiring wisdom I would tell her Mom

Ooh, she’s a little runaway, Daddy’s girl learned fast
All those things he couldn’t say.
Ooh, she’s a little runaway.

I FOR Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias. Just today I came to know that Enrique Iglesias is a Spanish singer. I have heard only one song from him and seen people going mad over it, it was “I Like it”. It took the youth by storm. I did not get a chance to listen to another song.

My Connect

It was the year when the album was released and I was in England. I saw the night clubs and dance clubs lined up with young girls and boys and dancing to the tune of I Like it. It was a sensation I would say.

My Pick

As I have not yet experienced any other song so obviously my pick is “I Like It”, Enjoy it is quite a catchy tune to groove on featuring Pitbull, though have Pitbull, he was here in India a few years back:
