Destination Anywhere!!!

Where is the one place you would never want to go on vacation that other people seem to love?

I will start this post with one of my favorite Jon Bon Jovi numbers “Destination Anywhere“, it came rocking to my mind with this prompt.

Darlin’, I’m tired of living just in your dreams ,I’m getting out
You know we both sold our souls,We’re just growing old in this sleepy, dead-end town.

Destination Anywhere!!! Name a place and I ‘ll be there, pack your bags and we disappear.

Vacations are meant to provide:

  1. A Break from daily chores, per se from office, kids from school and home.
  2. A time to connect with family and friends.

This in turn helps us gives us a fresh lease of life.

What destinations to choose:

1-In Nature’s Lap

I choose any destination stop as my vacation which is surrounded by natural beauty. I like to explore more towards the gift of God and delicacies nature has provided to us and spend time exploring them instead of going for exploring the most happening cities.

2-Cultural Diversity

Another interesting factor is to explore the diverse culture this world offers us. Every place, country, city has its own religion, food, culture, people, they have so much to offer. It is a wonder to get to know more about them. When I was in Japan I was fortunate to be there during the Golden Week, a week in which the country celebrates, it is their longest vacation period. I made the most of it by visiting the world heritage sites at Nikko, Lake Chuzenji, Kegon Falls and Yomoto Onsen(natural spa); exploring their cultures and closely watching some religious ceremonies and processions. I was very impressed by it.

I love to get surrounded by the serenity and beauty of the snow filled mountains, sitting by the river, lake or ocean, exploring the wild, watching the sunrise and sunset in the ocean, streaming in the backwaters. The Alps, Himalayas, The Andes to the Rocky mountains to Leh Ladakh all come under the list of places to visit. I would like to give them a priority followed by visiting the man made wonders from historic times to the sci fi ones.

Very few people are aware about the Tokyo Tower and that it is taller than the Eiffel Tower.

A place which would never come under my radar – Huh, I think the thought of a desert scares me, the tough life, hot sand winds, I would be reluctant to be there – it is better to leave it to Bear Grylls and let him do it for us.

Happy Posting Month #NaBloPoMo

This too shall pass….

These are very simple yet powerful four words. This phrase is an adage which signifies that we can use it at good as well as negative moments. It helps you to maintain a balance when you are elated or you are grief stricken or in a tough phase of your life.

The origins lead to Arabs kings although I have not dug much on it.

Indeed I heard a fable around it which I would like to narrate here.

Emperor Akbar belonging to the Mughal dynasty during 1560 had a flair and love for arts, culture and literature. He had a wise courtesan called Birbal. There are many folk-fares of Akbar and Birbal which are famous in the Indian sub continent however this one is short and inspiring.

So once Akbar was having a walk in the town with Birbal and suddenly he asked him “What is the phrase which can be used in both happy and sad moments. When I am sad it will make me feel happy and when I am happy it would make me feel sad.”

Birbal very wit-fully replied,  “Majesty it is indeed, This too shall pass“.

When you are happy it will make you feel sad that this enjoyment is short lived and soon the moment will vanish. When you are low it will make you feel good that it is not here to stay.

Although there are separate origins of the saying and you can do a wiki, I wanted to share this with you all as it is short and inspiring.

Stay blessed and happy…. and keep posting . Celebrating #NaBloMoPo.

The ability to Persist

This was the time of life when I was having a bumpy ride in my life. I don’t want to dig you deeper in my life however the story is around this.

When you face the toughest challenges in home, work or life, you need to remember two golden words “HOLD ON“, don’t give up and stay till the end before you call a quit and always remember the saying This too shall pass.

When I was having this situation and badly needed some motivation and inspiration my Dad narrated me a short story, not exactly a story but a motivational thought.

He said look son, people are afraid of putting their hands on fire(situations), they don’t want to take risk and some have fear of getting exposed(these are the one who want to remain encapsulated). Once you are into the situation (with others too) just remember to firmly keep your hands above the fire until the flames douses off.

Diya: An Earthen Lamp, lamp made from mud
Diya: An Earthen Lamp, lamp made from mud

Always remember that no matter how severe and devastating the fire is, at the end it always douses off. Have you ever seen or heard anything contrary to this. Be it a matchstick or a massive fire, it always goes off. These simple yet powerful thoughts shared by him made an impact, a connection in my mind which gave me motivation enough to recollect and re-build myself and my inner strengths to fight the situation.

During such situations in life we should have this ability to persist, and firmly hold on until the fire goes off, i.e. the situation is well handled. People often do the mistake by quitting earlier; Feel the heat, Bear the brunt and remember thy shall come out victorious.

To end with my motivational story telling I would like to share with you all the Billy Joel track “We didn’t start the fire”, which came to my mind while writing this post:

We didn’t start the fire,
It was always burning
Since the world’s been turning.
We didn’t start the fire,
No we didn’t light it
But we tried to fight it.

Happy posting Month.

Litmus Test in Life!!!!

If you had to come up with one question, the answer to which would determine whether or not you could be friends with a person you’ve just met, what would it be? What would the right answer be?

Does it sound interesting to you all, at least it does to me.

Litmus test on life @http://agileopedia.com
Litmus test on life @http://agileopedia.com/

So the question which I would throw at the person would be:

What keeps you busy all day and is it a reason good enough to lend me $2000.

This will help me comprehend that what he does as a daily journal in life and provide a hint of whether he appreciates it or not. The way he narrates will help to understand whether he is contended in his life. Does he bestow respect for family, moral values, society and culture? This will indeed let me get a sneak peak in his life.

His preferences towards life on his daily routine, whether he is self employed, entrepreneur, working professional, Jazz artist, rock-star and the like.

The question will open up the Pandora ’s Box from his side which will be not only good to hear but at the same time provide a spring of surprises to me.

Whether he lends me a stranger 2000 bucks will decide his ability to trust persons and to make a friend forever. If he gives the money he will be ready to take a challenge and risk in life. I would like such a person and moreover he is providing me with some money, albeit I won’t accept it at the end.

These stints will be enough for me to concur whether I have a take or not.

This was my short and sweet view on the litmus test on strangers, do you have some other opinion or believe in what I said.

Absolute Beauty:Is all beauty contingent on a subjective point of view?

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, is it true?

As far as nature is concerned my thoughts are that all beauty is not contingent on a subjective point of view.

Show me a person who does not like the beauty of sunshine, the smile of rainbow, the beauty of rain, the beauty of winds blowing past you in the hills, the lush green meadows and the snow falling on X-mas.

Beauty of Sun Rise: Sun rises behind the trees
Beauty of Sun Rise: Sun rises behind the trees

People might have a perspective of favorite seasons or they may or may not like rain or winter, however when it comes to the beauty which nature has provided us I can’t find someone who coins a different opinion on this.

When it comes to beauty relating to people or objects it does have meaning that we can have different versions from different eyes for the same people or object.

A painting which I may like is quite possible does not go well with others. The smile on a face may bring cascading smiles and some may frown on it.

As I write the post I just have the vague thoughts, here we discuss about beauty and eyes and what about those who have an impaired vision. they only imagine the beauty of rain, sun light, rainbow, lovely smiles. they stay happy and contended with what is around them and don’t have any regrets on whats good, bad or ugly. They are blessed with the power of sensing – hearing, feeling and touch. May God grant them courage to beat all odds and be inspirations to people who refrain from admiring the beauty in and around them.

As a closing note on Absolute beauty I would like to add a line I heard long time back:

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beer holder.

The power to foresee

You have the ORACLE with you and it can utter all the prediction for you.

WITH GREAT POWER THERE MUST ALSO COME–GREAT RESPONSIBILITY!Stan Lee

Having this super power by my side I must ensure that it is used responsibly and for good and noble causes.

I don’t long for wealth by predicting the lotteries or the results of a Grand Slam or FIFA.

The boon will be used for the betterment of mankind, nature, saving lives, preventing accidents, preparing for major disasters to be handled.

The Malaysian Airlines would never have disappeared, nor would it have been taken down. I would ensure that our skies will be a lot safer and not due to advanced technology albeit by preventing air mishaps.

There would be no calamity of sunken ships and ferries, Titanic would have never sunk with such powers around.

I will also be preparing the countries for averting the major natural disasters and save more and more human lives. We lose so many lives in landslide, cloud-burst, floods, fire and epidemics.

Life is by planning however death cannot be planned. Death is inevitable and it should be oblivion. We are never aware of the numbers we have in our life, so let’s not get bothered that our life will be reduced by a day with each prediction. Life should be large; it may or may not be longer.

The feeling of happiness, satisfaction and the state of elation which will be achieved will never bother me to rethink about the fact that I am going to lose a day.

Let’s pray for a happy world… Stay blessed and waiting for the view of the blogging community to respond on it.

The Small Wonder:New Series

Imagine that you’ve just been named the casting director of your favorite television show (or movie franchise). The catch: you must replace the entire cast — with your friends and family. Who gets which role? Just read on my version of it.

It would be a fascinating experience to be the casting director of a TV series. I get to cast the glamorous personalities… Arghh… threre’s a catch; the cast needs to be from my family.

Indeed I will relish that too and will try to justify their roles.

Small Wonder
Small Wonder

The TV series which I choose will be “The Small Wonder”. This will be the perfect family entertainer and I have all the CAST to be replaced by my loved ones:

Viki originally played by Tiffany Brissette goes to my daughter; she is very chirpy and she will enjoy the role.

Jamie originally played by Jerry Supiran is played by my nephew.

I will myself replace Ted Lawson.

Joan’s replacement will be my wife Julian.

Harriet who is the neighbor’s daughter will be my next door neighbor’s daughter.

I do not find any other concerns for the remaining cast as the series revolves mostly on these characters.

So watch out for the new version of The Small Wonder coming soon at a TV near you.

Digging into surprise….

500 years from now, an archaeologist accidentally stumbles on the ruins of your home, long buried underground. What will she learn about early-21st-century humans by going through (what remains of) your stuff?

From pats and pans to mobile and cans everything will be a surprise for them.

They will be surprised with the prized possession they have dug out and will display them proudly.

Some might even make the headlines like “A rare species of device is discovered which analyst assume was used to make calls in the 21st Century”. After 500 years technology might take a leap and people have device built in the human body. Arm being your dial pad and ear equipped with device to listen to the caller.

The discovery of bottles and taps assuming scarcity of water after 500 years will be termed as a major achievement.Analyst will present the tap to an audience as follows:

Just by turning the handle of this equipment they received as much water as they liked.

The reaction from the audience will be “We can’t believe it!!!”

Books will be a thing of the past and it will be another exciting material they would have found.

A special team will investigate the importance of “i” and Apple as a host of objects having Apple and iPad, iPhone etc. will be discovered.

Above all they will discover the existence of love, family, social life and bonding with the photographs and videos they discover and a new chapter of connecting with people will start in the era….

Relive the Childhood!!!!

Your adult self is suddenly locked in the body of a 12-year-old kid. How do you survive your first day back in school?

Going back to school
Going back to school

To start with it would be a wow feeling that I am back to best time of life as a child.

It is to relive the moment again and this time with greater wisdom and wit.

The slightest thought of it fascinates me; It’s like a reincarnation, so another aspect would be to do all the things which I missed doing or could not do for some reason.

It will not at all be scary for me to be back to school; in fact it will be wonderful. I would surprise everyone with all the facts and knowledge I have albeit being a 12-year old.  In fact if it is not a time travel then going to school will be an altogether a new experience with the colorful classrooms, presentations, host of sports and extra-curricular activities, the joy of never getting punished (like at our times the teachers would slap kids or hit with a ruler) and the beautiful teachers. At times I wish I could attend the class with my daughter, she is in 2nd grade. Love the small colorful chairs in her class.

I won’t miss out to:

  • Having lunch, before the lunch break.
  • Making out new friends.
  • Playing football and cricket in lunch time, as we already had our lunch.
  • Taking part in skits, singing the Christmas carols.
  • Engaging in fights. Blushing with my girlfriend.
  • Will teach the basics etiquettes of internet and blogging and its importance in life, if not a time travel.

We grow up, land up with handsome paying jobs, get married and after few days get paranoid. The life in this era of Facebook and Twitter has become so monotonous and busy (without reason) that this would be a real refresher for people. People end up putting enormous time in social media while they are not communicating with their family, friends or neighbors.

This will be a golden chance to go back to the time when relations and people were valued more than having sharing and likes.

So to wrap it up:

Thy take my money, thy take my name,Thy take my fame and gain.

Return me back my childhood,

Wherein I sailed my paper boat and get drenched in the rain.

Let me fly by the speed of light and be the 12 year old with a matured sight.
