तदेजति तन्नैजति तद्दूरे तद्वन्तिके ।
Isha Upanishad Verse 05
तदन्तरस्य सर्वस्य तदु सर्वस्यास्य बाह्यतः ॥ 5॥
Tad ejati tan naijati, tad dūre tad vantike |
Tad antarasya sarvasya, tadu sarvasyāsya bāhyataḥ || 5 ||
Brahm, it is neither tied nor it is moving, It is neither too far nor too near. It is inside everything and on the other hand everything is present in it, i.e. it is outside everything.
Translation of the words:
- Tad ejati – It moves
- Tan naijati – It does not move
- Tad dūre – It is far away
- Tad u antike – It is very near
- Tad antar asya sarvasya – It is inside everything
- Tad u sarvasya asya bāhyataḥ – It is outside everything too
Interpretation:
This verse describes Brahman (the ultimate reality or God). It is not bound by space or time.
It seems to be a riddle: How can something move and not move at the same time? How can it be far and near, inside and outside?
The meaning is that Brahm or the Supreme Reality is not limited like ordinary things.
For example, air is everywhere – inside us, around us – but we can’t see it.
In the same way, Brahman is both beyond our imagination (very far) and also within our heart (very near).

Application in Daily Life:
Think of the Wi-Fi signal at your home. You can’t see it, but it is everywhere in the room. It is inside your phone and your laptop. It is also around you. Sometimes you feel it is far when the connection is weak, but it is still near.
Similarly, Brahm or The Supreme Reality is found in everything and everyone.
This teaches us:
- Don’t limit Brahm to one place or image – He is everywhere, inside and outside.
- Respect all beings – because the same divine presence is in everyone.
- Stay humble – you are never alone, the divine is always in and around you.
Conclusion:
Verse 5 of the Isha Upanishad tells us that Brahm is not restricted by distance or form. It is both near and far, within and outside, moving and unmoving.
For a teenager: Just like the internet or gravity is unseen but always working everywhere, God or the universal energy is present in all things, connecting us and reminding us to live with kindness, respect, and awareness.
