Lessons from Janmashtami: Childlike Simplicity and Humility

Happy Krishna Janmashtami

This morning, my 9-year-old came to me with a sparkle in his eyes and said, “Dad, let’s play a riddle.”
I agreed with a smile.

He asked: “What is something you give, and in return, you get something back?”

I thought for a while and answered with all the wisdom I could gather — “Time, love, respect.” Then I went on, sharing five minutes of philosophy about life, relationships, and values.

But before I could continue further, he interrupted me, a little annoyed:
“Oh Dad! It’s money. Only when we give money, we get something back — like when you go to the market to buy groceries or vegetables. It’s so simple, and you couldn’t figure it out!”

Happy Krishna Janmashtami

I laughed, but in that moment, I also realized something profound.

As adults, we often complicate what is simple. Children remind us that life, at its core, doesn’t need to be overthought. Simplicity is wisdom too.

On this auspicious day of Janmashtami, the message holds even greater significance.

Lord Krishna’s life has always taught us the importance of humility, joy, and the beauty of living with a childlike heart.

Sometimes, being simple, humble, and kind is the greatest form of spirituality.

Wishing you all a blessed Janmashtami.
Jai Shri Krishna! Hari Om! Peace, Peace, Peace.

In Deep Thought

Translating the quote in the picture:

शब-ए-फ़ुरकत का जागा हूँ फ़रिश्तो अब तो सोने दो
कभी फ़ुरसत में कर लेना हिसाब आहिस्ता आहिस्ता
– अमीर मीनाई

Poet is seperated from his lover and is waiting for his death.

शब-ए-फ़ुरकत का जागा हूँ फ़रिश्तो अब तो सोने दो

I am awake since the night of separation, angels(of Death) let me sleep now

कभी फ़ुरसत में कर लेना हिसाब आहिस्ता आहिस्ता

We will discuss our account of life when at leisure and at our own pace, gradually and slowly.

Perfection – Kamil कामिल

Itna kamil banne ki fikr mat kar
Log to Khuda mai bhi kami nikalte hai

इतना कामिल बनने की फ़िक्र मत कर

लोग तो खुदा  मै भी कमी निकालते है

Just wrote a few lines on perfection – it loosely translates to –

Don’t get so much worried about Perfection my friend,

I have often heard people complaining about God.

In the race for perfection have some moments of life for yourself and don’t get carried away with the extra stress.

Aligned in thoughts

This is in continuation with the picture I posted on 29th Apr(here) where everyone can be seen having a different thought and state of emotions.

Moments later, they are all synchronized and focussed towards something or someone – it is difficult what could have been the unanimous reason for all of them to have this look and focus.

Is it a state of anger or curiosity – I leave it to your judgment. On a lighter note, they all seem to be aligned with each other.
