Superstitions

What commonly accepted truth do you think is wrong, or at least seriously doubt?  Why?

I guess not only in this part of the world but around the globe we have many proven superstitions and blindly followed from small ones to those having huge impact on society. Then there are some just like doctrines which a particular cast or sect must obey otherwise they should be ready to face the ire of the so called moral social police leading to harsh results (death at times).

On a lighter side there are many of them followed by people as part of the practise they see in the environment around them, to share a few:

  1. Stop your journey when a cat crosses the road. When other vehicles pass then you can go ahead, it is an omen and believed that if you don’t follow this an accident might occur. This is very strongly followed by Indian Drivers.
  2. When moving out of the house if someone sneezes, then take a pause and sit for a while otherwise you might not succeed for which you were about to leave.
  3. Snakes can drink milk and are offered milk nationwide during Nag Panchami.
  4. Masturbation leads to health problem including impotence.
  5. People having Mangal Dosha are married to trees first before their actual marriage, this is still strongly followed. It is believed that his partner will get harm and marriage will be at disharmony if someone with Mangal Dosha gets married. So when he marries a tree it is believed that all evils are transformed to the tree then he can safely move over his marriage with the partner.

As long as any rituals wont harm the society and is up to you to be followed or not there are no harm in it.

In my belief there are ritual all over the world, it depends upon individuals, if you believe in them and are superstitious you might follow them and at times you are forced by your family to follow it.

Hope Floats!!!

The world woke up to the shocking ongoing Syria crisis. Humanity took a back seat and Twitter, Facebook and news feeds were flooded with pictures of Aylan Kurdi.

The 3 year old did not understand borders, countries, religion, migrations or immigrations.

He was meant to play, learn, laugh and enjoy; instead he learnt death very well.

I eventually could not resist myself and did some google and was taken aback and felt sad when I saw the stats and the ongoing state of affairs in the country

The country has been unstable since 2011 and there are no signs of recovery.

There has been 220K+ who have succumbed to the causalities out of which 18864 are woman and children (and it is rising). More and more people are taking unsafe measures to flee to neighbouring countries via Turkey to Greece braving the Mediterranean. It has also become a breeding ground for many terror outfits now that are making the most out of this situation.

No parents would put their kids on such a deadly situation and board a makeshift inflatable boat; they have death on both sides waiting for them.

I decided to pick this today as I was really pondering, this is not the only place on earth with such a situation, and there are many places around the globe.  https://crowdvoice.org/ will give you what exactly is happening around the world, it lists voices of protest.

I feel scared; we earn for a living, plan our life, plan our savings, and plan the savings for our children’s future. We don’t plan to fail. We don’t plan for a war, we don’t want a war. No one wants to end up in such a situation, a war torn country. This can happen to anyone and everyone and is beyond our control. Imagine after 5-10 years your country ends up in a huge war like situation with mass causalities.

Everyone will agree that we don’t want another world war and no one would like to witness the fear and torture of ghettos again. Are we heading towards another disaster and lost all faith and humanity.

If the situation continues like this I am sure in the next decade we may see a 3rd World War between terror outfits vs. rest of the world where damage will be beyond thoughts.

I cannot comment on what’s wrong or right or who are at fault but these situations needs to be taken care of at a global level and I wish that we don’t wake up to such news in future.

On one hand scientists, pharmacist, doctors, engineers, teachers and architects are working their heart out on new inventions in all trades to give our children a better future and it takes only a sec to turn everything upside down, no analysis, case study and research is required for such turmoil by extremists who don’t take a second to take a life.

My heart and sympathy goes out for them and all other people under similar situation, May peace prevail.

Aylan taught the world that he did not float and washed away to the shores, it was humanity which floated and got washed away.

Oh God to thee I pray,

Save the world day by day!!!

Hope Floats!!!

What is the one thing that drives you to wake up in the morning.

What is the one thing that drives you to wake up in the morning and do whatever it is you do? Is it writing, family, friends, or something else entirely?

Obviously the only thing that drives to wake up in the morning is the morning tea, even the thought of it in the night makes me feel that may the morning come soon.

Besides it, there is my 6 year old for whom my wife and me get up to ensure that she reaches school on time. Although it is more a compulsion than motivation.

Inside A Bubble!!!

A contagious disease requires you to be put into quarantine for a whole month (don’t worry, you get well by the time you’re free to go!). How would you spend your time in isolation?

I wish no one is subjected to such a situation a lethal contagious disease and to be put in isolation for a month.

If they are to be put in a bubble then only as depicted in the image, having fun activity.

In such a case the best friend and the best past time will be a device with access to internet.

This will be enough to live and survive this time for most of us comfortably.

#1 song when you were born?

What was the #1 song when you were born? (not sure? you can find out here.)

If music be the food of love, play on @http://agileopedia.com/
If music be the food of love, play on @http://agileopedia.com/

It seems I took Duke Orsino’s advise a bit seriously when I was reading Twelfth Night during my school days.

While I exactly cant recall my birth however am sure after 5 years down the line was sure about having some favourite number of Bollywood songs and whilst it was the 80’s era so there was a boom in disco.

Music is my weakness and I used to spend most of my time listening to music, I had a record player HMV one ( vinyl player, turn table) , which was my best company and I used to play songs till my neighbours complained and was very proud to own it. Again I was lucky as my parents did have little interference  I used to listen to music thereafter to the rest of my life, still I am listening classical while writing the post. . Check this out you might like it:

Kaushiki & Parthasarathi sings Hamsadhwani (Lagi Lagan)

Kaushiki is a perfect example of divine beauty and golden voice and rules the classical world.

I have still preserved the records and feel very proud of them as it is almost extinct now, memories are attached with them.

Then came the 90’s when I had developed the liking for Bee Gees, Richard Marx, Bon Jovi, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Def Lepard and Johnny Cash( country music) and many more. I always loved the way Johnny Cash introduced himself before every song and concert, “Hi! My name is Johnny Cash”.  I also recommend if you can watch Walk the Line, a movie based on the life of the singer.

I enjoyed writing this and hope that you would have equally enjoyed reading it.

Golden Age

Golden Age @http://agileopedia.com/
Golden Age @http://agileopedia.com/

We grow up enjoying our life and then do schooling with people who become our best friends and followed by some serious stuff in college.

We enjoy life like the freely falling rain drop and seldom think about our past and future or marriage or kids.

This is a time meant for enjoyment in the sense that although youngsters are accountable for their studies however there is no added responsibilities of earning bread and butter, running the family so on and forth.

At least I enjoyed my school and college time a lot and I owe it to my Mom and Dad.

So by far the best time in life is to live as a child getting pampered or as an adolescent with abundance of innovation and energy.

Are you the last letter of the English Alphabet?

Are you the last letter of the English Alphabet?

I love to take challenges and so many people do, remember the Ice Bucket Challenge which stormed the internet and social media a few days back.

What type of person like challenges? Are they special, are they super powered or they are destined.

Challengers are:

  • First or Last @http://agileopedia.com/
    First or Last @http://agileopedia.com/

    Determined to prove and succeed.

  • They are looking out for wider areas to explore.
  • They are chasing their passion
  • They are ambitious.
  • They believe in “Never give up”
  • They are consitent.
  • Failure or success does not bother them, it is the learning and unlearning process they carry ahead.

So what do you think about yourself, are you the one is going to pick up the gauntlet when thrown at you or be like the last letter of the English Alphabet which is always sleeping.

Enjoy your weekend guys…..

What’s your last for today….

So this is the last post from me.

How many times we have said This is the last time I am smoking, I call it quit now.

This is the last drink, I wont from tomorrow.

We have had so many forgotten last times in our lives which we dont really commit to.

These are the ones which are good enough to be left.

How about a last post.

Never, this is a pretty good addiction to call it a quit and wish people keep sharing their creativity and we never have a last post.

Happy weekend….

Survival In Captivity…

You’ve being exiled to a private island, and your captors will only supply you with five foods. What do you pick?

I used to maintain a book on quotations, metaphors and idioms when I was a kid, there was no internet kinda stuff.

One of the idioms that pops up is this one:

While others live to eat, I Eat to live.

Eat to Live – Basically it means that eating should not be one of your favourite hobby, one should eat healthy and survive. At least I am not to finicky when it comes to eating. As a matter of fact we need to eat to survive else we succumb.

Live to Eat- on the other hand refers to the fact that eating for you is something beyond just survival.

Given the fact of captivity, do I need to bother what I have been given to eat once taken captive, still given the choice I would go with rice, tea, pulses, egg and bread.

In this age I believe having internet access will be much of a boon when in captivity. we can keep posting our daily update on social media.

The above image is from a country side restaurant in India when we were en-route to Agra to see the beautiful Taj Mahal. These are called Dhabas in India and they serve some real good traditional Indian mouth watering and relishing dishes.

So next time you come to India make sure you visit one.
