H FOR HEY JUDE FROM THE BEATLES – A TO Z CHALLENGE

H FOR HEY JUDE

H

H for Hey Jude, the single from The Beatles which ruled the #1 positions in both the US and UK and placed in 10th biggest single by Billboard. I always liked the piano which played for the last few minutes in the song.  Sir Paul McCartney wrote the song for John Lennon’s son, Julian, and it was initially called Hey Jules.

The Beatles were an English rock band, they were legends and a class apart, and they had a unique style of their own.  They had created the best songs ever which take us all to an altogether different world. They were simply great, Sir Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

When you are heading home from work and too tired you have it ringin on your head –  it’s been a hard day’s night and I have been working like a dog, I love when they sing

But when I get home to you I find the things that you do will make me feel all right.

So true, isn’t it! When people just think and feel the same they converted into a beautiful song. This is the power of music, you need to convert your thought and feeling to immortal words and decorate them with music.

Other chart toppers from them include Obladi Oblada, I want to old your hands, All my loving to you, Eight days a week, Here comes the sun to name a few, add your favourites too.

My Connect

To be true I can’t recall but it’s been a hard day’s night made me a Beatles fan.

My Pick

The pick of the band from my side is It’s been a hard days night as I feel it so strongly the power of love when you come back home, your family tends to simply make your day’s tiredness disappear like a magic wand, he mere glimpse of them is what one needs, happy listening:

G FOR GNR GUNS N ROSES AXL ROSE

G for GNR

G

GNR i.e. Guns n Roses aka Axl Rose, is an American rock band.  They ruled the chart and were a massive hit with their album Appetite for destruction, loved Welcome to the jungle.  Fans were then asked to use their Illusion and they used it very well to make it another successful chart, Use Your Illusion Album was an instant hit and it gathered the momentum which was required.

Roses
Roses  N Roses, No Guns – for AXL and team and GNR

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the band and Axl Rose for November Rain.

My Connect

I heard a song which copied the tune of one of their album, it was very late that I discovered the original song and GNR.

My Pick

The pick of the band from my side is November Rain, it is too good to resist and esp. the video of the song, enjoy

F FOR FALLING IN LOVE IS SO HARD ON THE KNEES – A TO Z CHALLENGE

F

F is for falling in love is so hard on the knees, isn’t it. Doesn’t matter with whom you fall in love but one thing is certain it is hard to be in love and harder to retain it, it needs compassion, understanding, trust and feelings for each other.

The harder part as the lyrics says and I like personally is

I was believer when you told me that you loved me
And then you called me someone else’s name

Have you guessed it by now, I am talking about Aerosmith and the song “Falling in love is hard on the knees” from the album Nine Lives. Aerosmith is an American hard rock band and I am a great admirer of them. Steven Tyler puts so much of energy in the albums and a lot of attitude and aggression. Simply great.

My Connect:

I heard the band on MTV back in the 90’s and it was the time when they released 9 lives.

My Pick

I love the song Nine Lives the title track from their album nine lives, Steven Tyler himself imitated the cat’s wail in the beginning of the song. Here it is Enjoy 🙂

E FOR EAGLES – A TO Z CHALLENGE

E for Eagles

Eagles are a US based hard rock brand best known for their number one hit Hotel California, it won the Grammy Awards for the band. Success is also very strange as in this case. The Hotel California is the most played song across the world and even now the band itself would have been tired of playing it on request. It is difficult when a particular performance, act or song becomes a niche and is viral so as to make the artists say at times, today I will play something else.

They are a great band and have given us such wonderful songs, thanks to them for their soulful compositions. Dedicating this post to Glenn Lewis Frey who left us this year in January and created a void amongst us.

E

My Connect

I saw an advertisement featuring the song Hotel California where it said you can check in any time but you can never leave; I don’t exactly recall  the advertisement but it definitely led me to them.

My Pick

My pick for the band is Take it Easy, very soothing sound and it upfront gives you mood uplift:

D FOR DEF LEPPARD – A TO Z CHALLENGE

As I write, I have the hysterical feeling! Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria Oh can you feel it, do you believe it? This is true I really get hysterical.

I am a big fan of Def Leppard and love the band a lot and their dedication and belief on each other.

D

They are a hard rock and heavy metal band and a genre in itself. It takes me back to the lovely golden days of my college life with the song Photograph and Pour some sugar on me.

The motivating part of the band is a different story which you must know. Allen the drummer of the band lost his left arm in a car crash.  Allen was strong and motivated still to play the drums and use his feet to make up for the lost arm. They designed a special drum and waited until Allen perfected in it for their next release and never had the thought of an alternate drummer. It was after three years of rigorous practice and patience that the band came up with their next album Hysteria which was a huge success and took them to the #1 spot again. This duration is often referred to as the Hysteria Era when talking about the band.

The band members always kept faith in Rick Allen and never thought of a replacement or any kind of discontent in the group. This clearly reflects the love, faith and belief you have on each other especially during a tough time and you bounce back stronger.

My Connect

There was a time when audio cassette and CD ruled, to save cost we used to share with our friends. One of my friends had the album Vault, compilation of hits of Def Leppard. I borrowed from him and took time to absorb it in and understand their music and lyrics. I soon was following Def Leppard and enjoyed the tracks so much since then.

My Pick

The song which is my personal favourite is Photograph:

C is for Celine Dion, Sir Cliff Richard and Crowded House.

C is for Celine Dion, Sir Cliff Richard and Crowded House.

C

Celine Dion

Celine Dion is one of the finest female singers we have. Recently she had her birthday (30th Mar) and here wishing her a good life and keeping us blessed with lot more quality music. Recently she had a tough time losing her husband followed by her brother 2 days later. I am sure she will come out of it stronger and bless the world with more of her music.

Sir Cliff Richard

Sir Cliff Richard is amongst the top 3 singers of UK. He has sung in the genre pop, soft music and started with rock. The soft songs which are a must listen include Theme for a dream, Why we don’t talk any more, don’t talk to him and Fall in Love to name a few.

Trivia: It is not known to many but Sir Cliff Richard was born in India, he was born in Lucknow, India where his parents worked as a contractor for the railways.

Crowded House

CH is an Australian band dealing in the genre Rock, pop and ALT Rock. I wish we still had people who can create the same magic with music again.

My Connect

Celine Dion:

As with others my connect was through titanic, which I am sure was a worldwide no 1, My heart will go on.

Sir Cliff Richard:

I just happened to listen Carrie one of his songs and it propelled me to carry on. Thereafter with time I gathered I liking for the singer.

Crowded House:

I borrowed a CD compilation of hard rock from my friend and it had the albums from Crowded House. I immediately fell in love with the songs and they refreshed me whenever I would listen them.

My Pick

Celine Dion:

Although Titanic track is the unbeaten one, however my personal favourite is Immortality with Bee Gees, she sings her heart out in it and owing to the current situation it seems as she is singing it for her husband and he is listening. Sharing a live version please check it out:

Sir Cliff Richard

My favorite I Carrie, this is because it is way too different than most of his songs which are soft and in contemporary Christian music. Enjoy it here:

Crowded House:

This song is a must listen and I use it for my wife and daughter, you need to listen it to believe it, it says “Everywhere you go you always take the weather with you”

I hope you will enjoy the songs, do take out some time to listen it.

B FOR BEE GEES

B is for Bee Gees and B is also for the baritone voice which differentiated them from the masses.

Bee Gees is a band compose by brother Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. They shot in fame with the Staying Alive from the Saturday Night Fever which also featured John Travolta and established and presented disco to the international arena and suddenly Bee Gees and John Travolta became talk of the town topping all charts. As on date Barry is the only survivor of the band; it is sad for him that his younger brother has left him. I believe they are never going to die and will always remain immortal in our mind, heart and soul with their music.

My Connect

I was not even born when all this happened, so how do I relate to the story, obviously I read it and feel the aura and the times it would have been. The better question is how did I start to follow them?

Intel was and is always creative and one fine evening in the 90’s I saw the intel ad featuring a scientist, server room and everyone were dancing in the tune of Stayin Alive. So I was curious and I wanted to know about this song and artist. Only I know how difficult it was at that time for me with no internet and a society in which people mostly followed Bollywood. I thank my Dad and a music house that had a big collection of Audio cassette and CD/DVD, he helped me out and bought me the cassette. The English one was costly to afford so I always thank my Dad as he never cut my hands for the bucks.

My pick:

You must have heard the popular tracks so sharing one of my personal favorite from Bee Gees which is Alone from the album Still Waters:

I so love Robin’s voice in all the songs….

Keep pouring in your thoughts and have a great weekend.

Lots of kisses and hugs 🙂

A is for Alla Rakha, he is regarded as one of the finest table players in the Indian classical music genre.

He established very high regard amongst the Indians and even worldwide for his performance. Most of the time he used to play with alongside sitar player Ravi Shankar (not to be confused with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar)

He made Tabla famous in the international arena and shared stage with George Harrison of Beatles fame. This made him and table popular in the west were he gained immense popularity.

The Indian government conferred one of the highest civilian awards Padma Shri for his contribution to the music society and taking Indian classical music to another level.

My Connect:

My dad used to listen to him from where I picked up the like for following him.

My pick:

You must take out your time and listen to the music link shared below to experience a niche performance:

A2Z Challenge

This month I decided to take part in the A2Z and have taken music as a theme. Music according to me is something which relaxes you, changes your mood and energy and gives you a break.

Have you ever wondered why you become so much happy when you listen a certain tune in FM or TV or playing in the street, it is because it teleports you back to the time when you used to listen to it and reloads all your memory related to it. Most of the time people relate youth, love, friends, outings, family occasions in which they had enjoyed a particular song. The one category which has the strongest effect is the songs which take you back to your childhood.

Through all these 26 posts I would like to introduce to you the artists and songs I like and you can also leave your thoughts behind. I will also be sharing some songs from them.

Happy posting all and do keep replying and commenting.
