When I saw the post this came to my mind immediately First Blood
They drew First Blood, Oh what a movie it was Rambo. The stout John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) and his baritone voice, having ghastly images of the Vietnam War which haunts him is provoked by the cops. Then whatever happens is worth watching.
So today Michelle drew the first blood by this prompt and I wrote about it.
Are we exploring ourselves or the various options available to us in the spheres of life?
We are busy chasing the moon and landing on the Mars, however we don’t bother or care for the plethora of opportunities or options floating around us.
I recently experienced something wonderful while sitting next to a kid when travelling.
He was the geek kid and downloading Apps from Google play, exploring them selecting some and rejecting others. I believe you all must be aware of mobile apps and Google play.
He was playing with the apps just installed as if they were there installed since ages, some required tilting of mobile to pour water. So out of curiosity I peeped this time to see how does he decide what to keep and what to bin and how does he know the app like a veteran when he had just installed it.
To my amusement each app had a video at the top and he would at the first check out the video and if it appealed to him in the next few minutes then he would go with the app, otherwise he would dump it.
Paperama: An App to master your origami skills
As grownups we don’t open up or explore, I had always installed apps and then uninstalled after finding it disappointing. He was a kid 8 years old yet he was so sensible in choosing what to install.
This extends to all areas of life pertaining to us where we are presented to options however we have been so accustomed to routine than we forget to keenly observe what all options are available to us, rather I would say to change the perspective of viewing.
So the next time you have to analyze please try it from different angles and wear different hats rather than what you are used to.
It was Friday, a weekend, I had a many commitments on hand to accomplish.
In no means I wanted to have a bad day ( because of Friday and a weekend) however because the fixtures of the day meant a lot to I and I had worked day and night for this day.
I left for office and the car stereo played Another Brick On the Wall – an amazing Pink Floyd number which I love for their guitar work.
I had an hour to go for the meeting, it takes me approx 15 min to reach work, so an hour’s time was well enough to go ahead and plan my day.
The conference was well ahead the start of the business and people around the globe were to dial in, it was organized by me and the who’s who from my client was involved. It was considered rude if I was unable to make up for the call.
We can only plan, but we cannot plan unplanned activities, at times plan B doesn’t work at all.
As I steered I ended up in a log jam and a traffic mess, and the clock started to tick like a time bomb.
This song turned out to be an omen for me, I won’t play it again.
I had 45 minutes in hand, and things seemed worse, there was indeed a lot of speculation in my mind, do I leave my car and in the mess, do I call or send a cancellation?
I waited in the log jam, took a deep breath and decided lets steer, if I clear the 600m in next 30 mins then still I will be able to make it.
I finally made it to office and started to line up the meeting, to my surprise an email popped up with one of the board of directors saying to reschedule it, and I was like Argghh….
I was not rushing hitherto to get it postponed, however I thought I could drive it and change directions.
I called him up to explain that I had managed to get the time of many on board and it would again take another decade to line up all of them, he agreed with me and we had the call as scheduled and all went well.
Why am I sharing this bit with you, I wanted to make you realize that the movie is not yet over, give it your best and stay positive in adverse situations, this will lead you out as a winner.
Don’t start blaming and creating myth, this song is cursed for me, this road is bad luck avoid it, won’t wear this shirt again.
We can always plan for events, create a plan B however not for unplanned events, unplanned events are surprises thrown our way, it is us by our experience and ability to manage unplanned activities are at test.
When in deep shit, don’t get bothered, remember this is the worse and now it is going to be better forget everything and take a deep breath and take some time to think, recollect your facts and previous experience, there are no thumb rules in life.
So at the end of the day all’s well that ends well and always believe in the saying:
When the going gets tough the tough get going.
I believe you had a lovely weekend, make it your best.
Today I discovered a natural phenomenon although I and almost all of us has heard this many times before.
Children exploring a mall @http://agileopedia.com/
So my wife insisted that we go in the nearby shopping mall over the weekend, she wanted jacket and winter wear, it’s spine chilling cold here after all. So I agreed and we were soon at the mall.
To my surprise the mall was so crowded and I saw people buying stuff like crazy.
It led me to conclude:
Women were doing the shopping as if it were the end; there won’t be any stuff available after this day. The jackets, pullovers, bedsheets, tops, bottoms, skirts all are going to be extinct from tomorrow. It’s in the female DNA to shop till you drop.
As a counterpart when it comes to the other sex: Men who hang out in the bars and booze they keep on repeating this is the last one, as if this is the end of the holy liquid and they will be deprived from tomorrow. So they would take until they cannot hold themselves, break the crockery, mess with people and puke.
So what alcohol is to men shopping is to women.
This reminds me of another snippet:
Man texts his wife who is away from the last 2 weeks and here is what happens:
Husband: Darling, how you doing?
Wife: I am good, are you missing me.
Husband: Yes
Wife: And what do you do when you miss me.
Husband: I eat your favourite choco fudge ice cream with extra nuts and watch your favourite movie, and do you miss me.
Wife: Yes
Husband: And what do you do when you miss me.
Wife: I take 4 shots of Johnie Walker, complimented by 2 Marlboro and then I don’t remember what happens thereafter.
This post was intended to be written in humor, with no allegations to any male/female/alcoholics/smokers/shopaholics and to husbands and wifes.
My wife is going to kill me after she reads this … Enjoy your week ahead.
It is the time of the year again when we are about to close and reconcile all that occurred in this year. So it’s again time for a fresh beginning, a time to make new friends, dreams and resolutions.
I would like to focus on resolutions and goal. People might be on a different note when taking the start of the New Year as an ignition point of achieving new heights, chasing dreams, becoming best, take resolutions and might argue that the whole year is the opportunity to do so. Why wait for the year-end to start something new. Folks, do you agree with their logic, I do. No time is good or bad enough to make a new start.
Indeed as I was about to write this post, I read an article by Sarah H which is in contrast to what I am about to write. It talks about to follow your calling and to believe “I want you all to realize every day is a new day and every minute is a new minute.”
So why am I or many others up to the spree that we make New Year resolutions and goals, has it become a doctrine over the years which we follow driven by the sub conscious mind. Personally, I am of the opinion that we should use this opportunity to make realistic changes we want to achieve, driven in a proper way and time boxed. This implies we can use this opportunity to carve initiatives, milestone and plan our road ahead with a road map and importantly attach a time line to it.
To emphasize just follow these basics when laying the foundation stones of resolutions or goals for the coming year:
Rational: Think properly before you arrive at your goal and whether it is balanced and achievable goal.
Benefits: What benefits do you drive by this goal or resolution?
Announce: Announce to your family, friends and close group about your goal.
Time boxing:Create well thought, achievable timelines and smaller benchmarks in your goal so that you can track your progress.
Follow:Create a rule or strong vibe to follow the goal and treat the plan as your bible.
Never Say Die:Have a never say die attitude as hiccups occur only during the first few days, once you overcome the tide there will be smooth sailing all through. Keep the Faith intact. Remember there are dark shadows on Earth but its light are stronger in contrast.
Journal:Create a journal for your next year, I do have one. Digital, Printed or whatsoever it be, mark all your important dates and events in advance on the journal and keep posting on it on a daily basis. This journal is a quick reference and reflection of your life. Keep it in a place where you can view it frequently and have a dip check. The idea is to have a quick reference without spending a lot of time on creating and posting to the journal or planner.
Looking forward to hear from everyone, your views; what else you believe can be added to the list and share your experiences around this.
We are on the last day of the year as I write this post; I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who made me smile, taught me, and supported me and to everyone who is part of the blogging world. Thanks for reading and appreciating the posts, following my blog and for the critical suggestions provided. Enjoy your year ahead and may God fulfill all your wishes.
